Hamadan village rugs are known for their quality of being strong, sturdy rugs hand knotted  in good quality sheep’s wool. The pile is usually thick. Hamadan is a collecting centre for all the nearby villages & it is situated on a plateau in central Iran.

There is a large portfolio of designs used in village rugs - floral with the ‘herati’, ‘boteh’, ‘mahi’ etc. motifs displayed in various size pieces. Natural dyes of vegetable & animal products are used to produce mellow colours of red, blue, green etc. Made from wool and natural dyes
