Antique jajims (gelims) are often made in Persian Azerbaijan in the l9th century and are used a lot in rural areas. Jajims were woven in narrow strips usually on a horizontal loom.  The flat weave stripe material was then cut up and several panels sewn together.

Jajims were used for many purposes eating cloth, bag, blanket etc. They are prized for their clarity of colors and balance of design. They are made of hand spun wool.
