This modern, hand-knotted wool and silk pile rug references the Damask patterns. Typical of the Byzantine and Middle Eastern weaving centres of the early middle ages. The pattern is achieved by using a tie-dye faint design of small medallions, placed on a foliate ground. Wonderful shades of azure blue colours are used in this sculptured rug.
