Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh or gabba rugs are a variety of Persian carpet, and traditionally a sleeping rug, crafted by women. They are much thicker and coarser than other Persian carpets; the word "gabbeh" coming from the Persian word meaning raw, natural, uncut. Gabbeh patterns are simple and primitive with only a limited number of decorative, mostly rectangular motifs often resembling people and animals. Colours, are usually bright, with large fields of solid color used in the designs. These rugs are included in our modern rug collection due to the simple motifs and patterns sitting comfortably with many contemporary settings.  They are a great way to add a 'pop' of colour, without too much pattern.
