This modern, hand-knotted wool and silk pile rug references the Damask patterns. Typical of the Byzantine and Middle Eastern weaving centres of the early middle ages. The design of this rug uses regular interlocking medallions and ‘heart’ shapes. A wide border surrounds the central panel. Minimal use of grey and red colours make up the sculptured modern design. This is a modern piece made by skilled artisans.
